Research interestes:
Developmental biology and cell biology with a special focus on the structure and function of the Balbiani body in invertebrate and vertebrate oocytes; specification of the germ line during embryonic development: morphogenesis and function of the oosome (polar plasm) in insect oocytes; amplification of ribosomal genes, accumulation and localization of various types of RNA (rRNA, mRNA and snRNA) in the cytoplasm of the ocyte; function of intercellular junctions and the cytoskeleton during oogenesis and embryonic development; invertebrate reproductive strategies; systematics and phylogeny of arthropods.
