My research focuses on the organization and functioning of symbiotic systems of insects and the insect developmental biology and morphology (oogenesis, female gonad structure). In recent years, I have studied: the symbiotic systems of mealybugs and their co-phylogenesis with the host insect (Iuventus plus V); the evolution of symbiotic systems of planthoppers, with particular emphasis on the substitution of symbionts by others during the evolution of this group of insects (Sonata 13); the impact of geographical isolation and the founder's effect on the composition of symbiotic systems of insects, with an invasive treehopper Stictocephala bisonia as the case study and factors and drivers of insect microbiome variability (OPUS 21)
